Cocktail History
The Yuletide Flip is a Christmas cocktail that was created by Craft Gin Club and was first published in their book Gin O’Clock: A Year of Ginspiration. Staying true to the Flip template, the recipe blends both the egg white and yolk, shaken with a spirit and sweetener to create a luxuriously creamy and indulgent texture. What sets this holiday-inspired version apart, however, is its unique combination of dry gin, a burst of citrus brightness, and the smooth, decadent addition of bourbon cream liqueur. This harmonious blend of flavors makes it an exceptional choice for warming up during the holiday season
Cocktail Ingredients
To make this cocktail, you’ll need the following ingredients:
London Dry Gin: This is a type of gin made with juniper berries, botanicals, alcohol, and water that has been infused with flavor through redistillation without artificial ingredients or colors. I used Broker’s Premium London Dry Gin.
Triple Sec: This is a liqueur made with bitter oranges, lemons, sugar, alcohol, and water. I used Cointreau.
Irish Cream Liqueur: This is a liqueur made with cream, whiskey, sugar, and spices. I used Bailey’s Irish Cream Liqueur.
Simple Syrup: This is a sweetener made with white sugar and water. I used this stovetop recipe.
Orange Bitters: This is a food product made with oranges, botanicals, herbs, and alcohol. I used Angostura Orange Bitters.
Egg White & Yolk: This is both the clear liquid and yellow portion in an egg. I used fresh egg white and yolk.
Orange Twist: This is the peel of an orange that has been twisted into a corkscrew shape.
Bartending Tools
To make this cocktail, you’ll need the following bar tools:
Bar Mat: This is a rubber or silicone mat that’s placed on the bar surface to catch spills, provide grip for glasses and tools, and keep the workspace clean and organized. I used the Highball & Chaser 18×12 Bar Mat.
Jigger: This is a small, double-sided measuring tool that’s used to accurately portion spirits and mixers, typically with one side measuring 1 oz and the other 1.5 or 2 oz. I used the Japanese jigger from the A Bar Above 14-Piece Silver Bar Set.
Boston Shaker: This is a two-piece cocktail shaker consisting of a metal tin and a glass or metal mixing glass that’s used for shaking and blending ingredients. I used the Boston shaker from the A Bar Above 14-Piece Silver Bar Set.
Hawthorne Strainer: This is a metal strainer with a spring around its edge that’s used to filter out ice and solids when pouring the cocktail into a glass. I used the A Bar Above Hawthorne Strainer.
Peeler: This is a small, handheld tool with a sharp blade that’s used to remove the outer skin of fruits and vegetables. I used the OXO Good Grips 2-Piece Peeler Set.
Sour Glass: This is a small, stemmed cocktail glass with a tall bowl that’s designed to serve sour-style cocktails. I used a thrifted sour glass.

Tasting Notes
This cocktail has the following flavor profile:
• Appearance: Pale yellow color
• Aroma: Citrus and cream
• Taste: Bright and thick egg flavor that blends vanilla, cocoa, and cream
• Finish: Gin botanicals and citrus
Kendall’s Rating: ⭐⭐⭐
Kendall’s Take: “I’ve shared a lot of chocolate Christmas cocktails, and this gin recipe was a nice break from those. Its flavor almost reminded me of cookie batter with a hint of citrus, which is a very unique flavor combination. Again, I can’t quite get past there being egg in this one though. I probably wouldn’t make it again for that reason, but it’s definitely worth trying, especially with Broker’s Gin so the other flavors shine. Many other gins that are more botanical or flavored just wouldn’t work in the Yuletide Flip.”
