Cocktail History
The Outer Rim is a Star Wars cocktail that was created at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, an attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Orlando, Florida and Anaheim, California.
Named for the a sparsely populated region in the Tatoo system where smugglers, pirates, and other outlaws were often found, this copycat recipe was made using the Margarita template. It calls for a simple mixture of tequila, lime, sugar syrup, and black salt, but it also adds in tart açaí liqueur and a sludgy passion fruit garnish to give it some other-worldly edge.

Kendall’s Take
“One sip, and it was easy to see why this Star Wars-inspired take on the iconic Margarita is a crowd-pleaser. The drink itself is fruity and super approachable, with the açaí adding a unique twist to the usual citrus-forward profile. Meanwhile, the more elaborate garnishes are mostly there to add to the recipe’s visual experience, but they add a couple more layers of other-worldly flavor that made the template even more fun. Whether you include them or not, I could see The Outer Rim would be a great recreation for a themed party menu.”
