Cocktail History
The Marmalade Gin Mule is a that was created by Craft Gin Club and was first published in their book Gin O’Clock: A Year of Ginspiration. It’s a winter-inspired variation of the Gin Mule that’s made with just four ingredients: London Dry Gin, lime, ginger beer, and a heaping spoonful of the British breakfast staple orange marmalade.
Cocktail Ingredients
To make this cocktail, you’ll need the following ingredients:
London Dry Gin: This is a type of gin made with juniper berries, botanicals, and alcohol that has been infused with flavor through redistillation without artificial ingredients or colors. We used Broker’s Premium London Dry Gin because it’s versatile and high proof. For a mocktail version of this drink, try MONDAY Zero Alcohol Gin in place of the gin.
Lime Juice: This is the liquid juice of a lime. We used freshly squeezed lime juice.
Marmalade: This is a fruit preserve made with orange juice, orange peels, sugar, and water. We used Bonne Maman Orange Marmalade because it’s high quality and has exceptional flavor.
Ginger Beer: This is a carbonated beverage made with ginger spice, yeast, and sugar. We used Q Mixers Ginger Beer because it has a delicious ginger flavor that is sweetened with agave syrup.
Lime Slice: This is a slice of lime that has been cut into a half wheel shape.
Bartending Tools
To make this cocktail, you’ll need the following bar tools:
Jigger: This is used to measure and pour ingredients. We used the Japanese jigger from the A Bar Above 14-Piece Silver Bar Set.
Boston Shaker: This is used to shake ingredients. We used the Boston shaker from the A Bar Above 14-Piece Silver Bar Set.
Hawthorne Strainer: This is used to strain out ice and solid ingredients after the cocktail is shaken. We used the A Bar Above Hawthorne Strainer.
Paring Knife: This is used to cut ingredients. We used the OXO Good Grips 3.5 Inch Paring Knife.
Juicer: This is used to juice citrus. We used the ALEEHAI Manual Fruit Juicer.
Measuring Cups: These are used to measure ingredients. We used one from the OXO Good Grips 8-Piece Stainless Steel Measuring Cups & Spoons Set.

Tasting Notes
The Marmalade Gin Mule starts with warming aromas of ginger and a tangy ginger-forward taste that strongly features bittersweet orange marmalade mixed with Broker’s botanical dry gin; this is all balanced a bit by the citrus, and the gin combines with spiciness in the throat for a pleasant finish.
Our Opinion of This Cocktail Recipe: For a cold drink served in an even colder mug, this one will definitely warm you up, and the cozy flavors of the marmalade add an extra touch of cold winter morning nostalgia. We both loved the cocktail and will definitely make it again, no matter the season in which we find ourselves craving it.
Kendall’s Take: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
“This mule tastes so delicious that it’s dangerous! I don’t believe I had ever tried orange marmalade before having it in this cocktail and found it to be more bitter than I expected, an attribute that is definitely noticeable even though the ginger beer is so prominent if you know what it tastes like. This would be great for sipping when the weather warms up again.”
