Cocktail History
The Eauxdvi is a Sips From Scripts original cocktail that was created for ODVI, a brand of Armagnac that was made with cocktail lovers in mind. The recipe pairs the French spirit with cinnamon, herbs, citrus, and bitters, and its name was inspired by the ODVI brand itself, which is already a play on words in that it’s pronounced “eau-de-vie” like the spirit. We then threw in our own twist by exchanging the “O” for “Eaux” as a nod to our town’s signature silent “x” that’s often added to event names, one of which is the Eaux Claires Music Festival.
Cocktail Ingredients
To make this cocktail, you’ll need the following ingredients:
Armagnac: This is a type of brandy made in Armagnac, France with distilled white wine. We used ODVI Armagnac because it’s fresh, fruity, peppery, and mild with notes of peach and prune. For a mocktail version of this drink, try Escape Mocktails Non-Alcoholic Cognac Alternative in place of the brandy.
Cinnamon Syrup: This is a sweetener made with cinnamon sticks, white sugar, gum Arabic powder, saline solution, and water. We made ours at home using Alex’s sous vide recipe.
Bénédictine: This is a liqueur made in France with twenty-seven herbs and spices, sugar, and alcohol. For a mocktail version of this drink, try homemade black tea, honey, and thyme syrup in place of the Bénédictine liqueur.
Lemon Bitters: This is a food product made with lemon, botanicals, herbs, and alcohol. We used Fee Brothers Lemon Bitters.
Aromatic Bitters: This is a food product made with botanicals, herbs, and alcohol. We used Angostura Aromatic Bitters. For a mocktail version of this drink, try All The Bitter Alcohol-Free Aromatic Bitters in place of the aromatic bitters.
Lemon Peel: This the peel of a lemon that has been cut into a strip.
Bartending Tools
To make this cocktail, you’ll need the following bar tools:
Jigger: This is used to measure and pour ingredients. We used the Japanese jigger from the A Bar Above 14-Piece Silver Bar Set.
Mixing Glass: This is used to hold the ingredients while they’re being stirred. We used the Viski 17 oz Cocktail Mixing Glass.
Bar Spoon: This is used to stir ingredients. We used the Barfly Stainless Steel Teardrop Bar Spoon.
Julep Strainer: This is used to strain out ice and solid ingredients after the cocktail is stirred. We used the A Bar Above Julep Strainer.
Ice Mold: This is used to make a clear ice cube. We used the BERLINZO Premium Clear Ice Cube Maker Mold.
Peeler: This is used to remove the garnish peel from the citrus. We used the OXO Good Grips 2-Piece Peeler Set.

Tasting Notes
The Eauxdvi features aromas of Armagnac and citrus, the taste of the peppery, fruity spirit with notes of prune, peach, and cinnamon, and ends with the spirit’s flavor and herbal Bénédictine on the swallow.
Our Opinion of This Cocktail Recipe: This cocktail was a little too serious for Kendall, but Alex really enjoyed it. If you’ve never tried Armagnac, we recommend ordering a bottle of ODVI from Curiada and making one of these for yourself! This spirit is a fantastic addition to any bar, and we will definitely be creating more cocktails with it.
