Cocktail History
The Necromancer is a modern cocktail that was created by Jacob Briars, a bartender and brand ambassador at Bacardí. Another variation of the Corpse Reviver No. 2, the recipe also calls for gin, absinthe, and lemon, but it swaps the ratios of the gin and absinthe in favor of more anise-flavored spirit. It also omits the citrus liqueur and opts for floral elderflower liqueur instead.
Cocktail Ingredients
To make this cocktail, you’ll need the following ingredients:
Absinthe: This is a spirit made by distilling a neutral alcohol with wormwood, anise, fennel, and other botanicals to develop a strong, herbal flavor.

Lillet Blanc: This is a liqueur made in France with white wine, citrus liqueurs, herbs, and quinine, which are blended and fortified with brandy to develop a floral, citrus flavor.
Lemon Juice: This is the liquid extracted from the flesh of ripe lemons that has a sweet, tangy flavor and light yellow color.

Kendall’s Take
“Absinthe always brings its signature anise edge to every template, but this cocktail balances it in a way that makes it approachable without losing its character. The herbal notes mingle with the other floral and citrus-forward ingredients to create a layered, mysterious, and intriguing drink. For anyone curious about absinthe, the Necromancer is a thoughtfully crafted introduction that delivers both complexity and personality, plus some spooky season-themed vibes.”
