Cocktail History
The Corpse Reviver No. Blue is a modern cocktail that was created in 2007 by Jacob Briars, a bartender and brand ambassador at Bacardi. It’s made using the same equal-part ingredients as the Corpse Reviver No. 2, including gin, Lillet Blanc, lemon, and absinthe. But this version swaps out the orange curaçao for its bright blue sibling to add a fun color to an otherwise simple cocktail.
Cocktail Ingredients
To make this cocktail, you’ll need the following ingredients:
Gin: This is a spirit made by redistilling a neutral spirit with juniper berries and other botanicals to develop a distinctive, aromatic flavor.
Blue Curaçao: This is a liqueur made with dried laraha orange peels, spices, distilled alcohol, water, and sugar, which are blended, infused, and then dyed with food coloring to develop a sweet, citrusy flavor and bright blue color.
Lillet Blanc: This is a liqueur made in France with white wine, citrus liqueurs, herbs, and quinine, which are blended and fortified with brandy to develop a floral, citrus flavor.
Lemon Juice: This is the liquid extracted from the flesh of ripe lemons that has a sweet, tangy flavor and light yellow color.
Absinthe: This is a spirit made by distilling a neutral alcohol with wormwood, anise, fennel, and other botanicals to develop a strong, herbal flavor.
Lemon Twist: This is the peel of a lemon that has been twisted into a corkscrew shape.

Tasting Notes
This cocktail has the following flavor profile:
• Appearance: Bright blue color
• Aroma: Anise and zesty lemon
• Taste: Unmistakably balanced flavor that marries lemon, semi-sweet herbal vermouth, and gin
• Finish: Gin botanicals and citrus
Kendall’s Take
“A twist on the classic Corpse Reviver No. 2, this version swaps in blue liqueur for a festive visual pop that will catch every guest’s eye while keeping the original’s bright, balanced flavor profile. I’d call the Corpse Reviver No. Blue crisp, refreshing, and playful—a good one for those times when you want a colorful cocktail that still delivers the classic structure and charm of the vintage template.”
