The Blueberry Mint Julep is a modern cocktail that was created by Alex Sukopp, former bartender of Sips From Scripts, as a variation of the classic Mint Julep. Similar to the original, the recipe calls for bourbon mixed with muddled mint and simple syrup, but it adds blueberry flavor to the simple syrup for more complexity.
Add mint leaves and blueberry syrup to a julep tin.
Using a muddler, gently muddle mint leaves in blueberry syrup for 5-7 seconds.
Fill julep tin with crushed ice.
Add bourbon to julep tin.
Using a bar spoon, gently stir for 3-5 seconds.
Pack julep tin with more crushed ice.
Garnish with mint sprig and blueberries.
