Cocktail History
The Bandon Bronco is an autumn cocktail that was created by author Jassy Davis and was first published in her book Winter Warmers: 60 Cosy Cocktails for Autumn & Winter. Named for Bandon, Oregon, which is one of the top producing areas of cranberries in the United States, this is a simple variation of the Moscow Mule that uses the classic’s iconic template of vodka, citrus, and ginger beer but adds cranberry for a tart twist.
Cocktail Ingredients
To make this cocktail, you’ll need the following ingredients:
Ginger Beer: This is a carbonated beverage made with ginger spice, yeast, and sugar. I used Q Mixers Ginger Beer.
Vodka: This is a spirit made with grains, vegetables or fruits, and alcohol. I used Smirnoff Vodka.
Cranberry Syrup: This is a sweetener made with cranberries, white sugar, citric acid, and water. I made mine using this sous vide recipe.
Cranberry Juice: This is the liquid juice of a fresh cranberry. I used Simple Organic Cranberry Cocktail.
Lime Juice: This is the liquid juice of a lime. I used freshly squeezed lime juice.
Lime Slice: This is a slice of lime that has been cut into a half wheel shape.
Cranberries: This is a small red fruit. I used fresh cranberries.
Bartending Tools
To make this cocktail, you’ll need the following bar tools:
Jigger: This is used to measure and pour ingredients. I used the Japanese jigger from the A Bar Above 14-Piece Silver Bar Set.
Bar Spoon: This is used to stir ingredients. I used the Barfly Stainless Steel Teardrop Bar Spoon.
Paring Knife: This is used to cut ingredients. I used the OXO Good Grips 3.5 Inch Paring Knife.
Juicer: This is used to juice citrus. I used the ALEEHAI Manual Fruit Juicer.
Cocktail Pick: This is used to hold the garnish. I used one from the KingSeal Bamboo Knot Cocktail Pick Set.

• Aroma: Cranberry and ginger

• Finish: More pronounced cranberry and ginger burn
Kendall’s Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Kendall’s Take: “Who doesn’t love a Mule? I enjoy the classic Moscow Mule, but there’s just something special about holiday renditions. This tart cranberry version is no exception to how especially delicious those can be; the bitterness of the cranberry plays so well with the spice of the ginger beer. They’re a match made in cocktail heaven if you ask me. I will absolutely be making the Bandon Bronco again and again. It’s simple and very tasty!”
