The result is a smoky yet sweet drink that’s great for warm or cool weather imbibing.
Add mezcal, pear liqueur, lemon juice, spiced demerara syrup, and bitters to a shaker.
Fill shaker with cubed ice.
Shake for 10-20 seconds.
Using a Hawthorne and fine mesh strainer, strain into a coupe glass.
Garnish with star anise.
