Description

The Filibuster is an autumn cocktail that was created by Erik Adkins at The Slanted Door in San Francisco, California. It is a simple variation of the Whiskey Sour that still uses a spicy whiskey for the base, lemon for balance, and egg white for texture just like the classic, but it swaps out the simple syrup for maple syrup to add a fall-inspired twist.

Ingredients
  • 2 fl oz Rye
  • 0.75 fl oz Lemon Juice
  • 0.5 fl oz Maple Syrup
  • 0.5 fl oz Egg White
  • 4 drops Aromatic Bitters
Method

    Add whiskey, lemon juice, maple syrup, and egg white to a shaker.

    Fill shaker with cubed ice.

    Shake for 10-20 seconds.

    Using tongs, remove ice from shaker.

    Dry shake for 5-10 more seconds to emulsify egg.

    Using a Hawthorne strainer, strain into a coupe glass.

    Top with bitters.

    Drag a toothpick through bitters to create a garland of hearts.
