The recipe takes notes from the classic Hot Toddy template by calling for a spirit, lemon, honey, and hot water, but this version adds creative flair by throwing Cognac and Green Chartreuse into the mix to create a rich, herbal aroma and flavor that enhance the drink’s warming qualities tenfold.

Cognac: This is a type of brandy made in Cognac, France with distilled white wine. I used Courvoisier VSOP Cognac.
Green Chartreuse: This is a liqueur made in France with over a hundred herbs and plants, spices, sugar, and alcohol.
Lemon Juice: This is the liquid juice of a lemon. I used freshly squeezed lemon juice.
Honey Syrup: This is a sweetener made with honey and water. I made mine using this stovetop recipe.
Star Anise: This is the seed pod from the fruit of the Illicium verum plant. I used Frontier Co-op Star Anise.

Paring Knife: This is used to cut ingredients. I used the OXO Good Grips 3.5 Inch Paring Knife.
Juicer: This is used to juice citrus. I used the ALEEHAI Manual Fruit Juicer.
Bar Spoon: This is used to stir ingredients. I used the Barfly Stainless Steel Teardrop Bar Spoon.

This recipe is just so warm and soothing—perfect for a night at the cabin when the snow is coming down outside and you're tucked under a heated blanket. If I were you, I would add the Chartreuse Toddy to my winter cocktail rotation pronto."

Add water to a saucepan.
Warm over low heat for 3-4 minutes.
Add brandy, Green Chartreuse, lemon juice, and honey syrup to a mug.
Stir for 5-10 seconds.
Top with hot water.
Stir for 3-5 more seconds.
Garnish with star anise.
