Description

Butterbeer is the iconic drink served at The Three Broomsticks Inn in Hogsmeade from the Harry Potter series. This boozy version, based on the recipe served at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando, Florida, was created by author Cassandra Reeder and published in her book The Geeky Bartender Drinks: Real-Life Recipes for Fantasy Cocktails Drinks. It pairs spiced rum with dry stout beer, milk, butter, baking spices, and whipped cream to up the alcohol content of the beloved beverage.

Ingredients
  • 24 fl oz Dry Stout Beer
  • 4 fl oz Spiced Rum
  • 2 fl oz Evaporated Milk
  • 0.5 fl oz Vanilla Extract
  • 0.25 cups Brown Sugar
  • 2 TBSP Butter
  • 8 Whole Cloves
  • 8 Whole Allspice Berries
  • 2 Cinnamon Sticks
  • 2 oz Whipped Cream
  • 4 pinches Grated Nutmeg

    Combine beer, cinnamon sticks, cloves, and allspice berries in a saucepan over high heat.

    Bring to boil, then reduce heat to medium low and let beer mixture simmer for 15 minutes.

    When warm, remove spices, then stir rum, evaporated milk, vanilla extract, brown sugar, and butter into beer.

    Let cocktail simmer for 2-3 more minutes, then remove from heat.
