Cocktail History

The Blood Bag Punch is a popular large format Halloween cocktail of unknown origin, with this version being created by Jay and Leah Hall of the Gastronom Cocktails blog. Meant to be bright red and served in food-grade blood bags at Halloween parties, the recipe pairs two tequilas with a fruity sangria zinger tea along with pineapple, passion fruit, and citrus.

Kendall’s Rating: ⭐⭐⭐

Kendall’s Take: "I made this with for the first time with my former partner and knew he was going to be peeved with me when he realized I bought the actual blood bags for this recipe. Admittedly, it was a pain in the butt to fill them and rig them up for the photo, but these would 100% wow your Halloween party guests if you have the patience to use them. As for the drink, the Blood Bag Punch was exactly what you'd expect of a large-format concoction—fruity and palatable. I don't have much to say beyond that because it's not meant to be as complex as other drinks, and it gets the job done there."
